HOW TO FORMULATE A JOB APPILCATION EMAIL

HOW TO FORMAT AN EMAIL WHEN EMAILING YOUR CV/RESUME

Listen here, the most important part of your email is your subject line.

Do you know how many people apply for jobs?

I have no clue either but don’t worry about that our forum allows such questions to be asked, and answered by the right qualified individuals.

Now back to what I do know, your subject line is what keeps the recruiter from overlooking your email. You need clearly state your business let’s not get over-excited keep it plain and simple.

EXAMPLE: Adriana Lee Smith - Project Manager (Reference number/name if provided)

    THE BODY OF THE EMAIL

If the employer has asked you to attach your CV and cover letter, the body of the email shouldn't be a duplication of these things. This is where you get creative, sell yourself briefly, attract the recruiter, reiterate who you are, the job you're applying for, your contact details, and most importantly that your CV/Resume and cover letter are attached for review.

Always, always, always know what the prospective employer/recruiter is asking for this makes it easier to know how to build the body of your email.

If only your CV/Resume is requested:

    - Treat the body of your email as your cover letter just without the formal business letter such as your address and dates.

The things you should email to the recruiter:

    - Why you are applying for the job

    - What values, knowledge, and skills you as an individual can offer to the company.

    - Don’t forget to suggest your availability for a screening call or interview.

It's always best to stand out from the rest, create an email signature, make it easy for the recruiter to know how to get hold of you at a glance

Your email signature should relevantly include:

    Full name: Adriana Lee Smith

    Email Address: AdrianaLeeSmith@gmail.com

    Cell number: 082 234 6578

Any business-related social media profiles such as Linkedin etc.

SAVING AND ATTACHING YOUR CV/RESUME AND COVER LETTER

How you send your documentation is extremely important because this the very first thing the recruiter/employees see when you submit your application.

Thus you need your application to be professional and easy to identify.

The file names should state your name and distinguish the different files that you have included in the email.

EXAMPLE: Adriana Lee Smith CV or Adriana Lee Smith Cover Letter. The types of files you send are extremely important.

When sending your job application via email, it's extremely important to follow all the instructions given in the job post if no specific instructions have been given simply follow the above guidelines.
